Will Syria lead to a war with Russia

Friday September 2,2013 the L.A.Times reported…”

“Russia bolsters naval presence near Syria, will continue to aid Assad”

The article continues on to state….”MOSCOW  — Russia will continue to supply weapons to Syria in the event of a U.S. military strike, President Vladimir Putin said Friday, as three naval ships headed to the eastern Mediterranean to bolster the country’s fleet near the Syrian coast.”.

Not a good situation. Here we are seemingly on a headlong rush to make war on Syria. We are massing our warships near Syria, gearing up to take action if and when one of two things happens. Congress gives approval to President Obama’s request for approval to take action against Syria,or,Obama just goes ahead and gives the order to attack anyway in defiance of not only Congress but also an overwhelmingly large section of the American public!

What could be the result of all this? Well one could be-seeing as how Putin has vowed to help Syria- that Russian warships take direct action against American warships. Another possible result could be an accidental confrontation between our forces and theirs that could quickly spiral out of control and lead to something totally unforeseen.

President Obama is playing with fire here, and you know the old maxim, play with fire and your bound to get burned! This is a very dangerous game Obama is playing at this point. It is becoming harder and harder for this writer to see any good coming out of this. Already their are accusations of “mission creep” being leaked out of the Pentagon, and as for “no boots on the ground” that is becoming increasingly less likely with every hour.

It has been said that the credibility of America is at stake here. Well the same can now be said of Russia and Vladimir Putin. Putin is now on the record as being willing, and obviously able,to send in forces to back up its promise to stand with Assad.

What began as a plan for “limited military strikes to punish Assad” is already beginning to take on a life of it’s own. President Obama needs to remember the law of unintended consequences. Apparently he failed to learn the lessons of Iraq. What may well start out as an action with good intentions-although questionable here-can get out of control in the blink of an eye.

What we are beginning to see is a modern day version of brinkmanship. I fear that if cooler heads do not prevail then we will see something that no one expected when this first began,a full blown war between the United States and Russia. If this happens we all lose!

Could Syria be a smokescreen?

Smokescreen: something designed to obscure, confuse, or mislead

Example:”The truth was hidden behind a screen of lies”

Source: Mirriam Websters online Dictionary.

I want to throw a  proposition out there. Is it possible that President Obama’s rush to war in Iraq is really just a smokescreen? One intended to distract the voting public-especially the right wing public-from some of the more pressing and real issues that face America.

Issues such as immigration reform and repeal of what is euphemistically called-Obama care? I submit that it is ,and, whats more, it has been a total success.

Everyone seems to be talking about nothing else but the possibility of war in the middle east. Meanwhile work goes forward on granting some kind of amnesty to illegal aliens in this country either through legislation or-if need be-executive order.

This strategy has proven especially effective in neutralizing the opposition of the Tea Party and conservatives of all stripes.

Mean while Harry Reid ,Nancy Pelosi,Marko Rubio and others march steadily forward in their quest to allow illegals to become illegal and open a flood gate of legal immigration and Republicans in Congress prepare to cave once again on both issues.

President Obama and his progressive friends in the Republican party must be absolutely giddy as they have succeeded in taking all the attention off from themselves and onto an absolute non issue in Syria.

If they  cared so much about the killing over there why have they  waited until now to get excited about it after 100.000 lives were snuffed out? Were those lives any less valuable than the ones killed by Sarin? Hardly.

Friends this will go down not only as one of the greatest boondoggles in history, but also as one of the greatest instances of bamboozling the citizens of this nation if we do indeed decide to go to war with Syria.

Come to think of it smokescreens really are an incredibly effective tool in the hands of dishonest politicians!

No war against Syria

Filed under: Uncategorized — Gene @ 4:42 pm

Much has been said lately about our need to attack Syria because of it’s use of so-called WMD’s . In this case of course we are talking about the use of sarin gas by some one inside Syria.

To date I have yet to see any hard evidence  to prove that this outrage was carried out by the Syrian government. Indeed it may well have been the rebels themselves, who either willingly ,or by mistake, released the gas on their own people.

Perhaps Bashar Assad did do it. Who knows? No one that’s who. If the President has such hard evidence it would behoove him to present said evidence directly to the American people. Instead all we get is a steady drum beat of ” we must act”.

I’m not convinced. In fact I think to get involved in this maelstrom would be nothing less than stupid. It appears at the present time that at least half if not more of the various groups arrayed against Assad are themselves affiliated with either Hezbollah, The Muslim Brotherhood, or Al-Qaeda. Non of these groups can be said to be friends to America. In fact Al Qaeda is our sworn enemy!

It is ironic that on the eve of 9/11 or President who criticized George Bush for “lying about weapons of mass destruction” should argue that we go to war against Syria on what appears to be rather shaky ground. What’s more Obama constantly critisized the Iraq war as illegal,a waste of resources,a recruitment tool for Al Qaeda etc.etc.

How is it the the once great protester of the “wanton use of force” by America should be calling for such a reckless response by this country now?

We managed to get out of Iraq by the skin of our teeth. Since then under this Presidents watch we have had the debacle of Libya with an Ambassador dead along with three members of his security detail. Egypt is burning and in the throes of civil war herself. Our allies as well as our enemies hold us in contempt and this President is seen the world over as being weak and indecisive.

War with Syria? I think not ! Our previous experience-as well as this Presidents record to date- tells me we had best to sit this one out!

“I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history and naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.”
John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams, 1780″

In our time we have much hand wringing over the number of casualties we have in the “War on Terror”. Though our current President refers to it as “Overseas Contingency Operations”.

American soldiers dying anywhere in the world is a tragedy. If I had my way none of America’s finest would ever have to make the ultimate sacrifice. However freedom isn’t free and the founders of this country understood that for us to retain our freedom we had to be willing to fight.

Notice the progression in John Adams thoughts. He must study war, so his sons, would have liberty. Nothing has changed today. We must be willing and able to protect this precious gift of freedom.

This man was willing to fight so that future generations would be able to pursue peaceful interests and would not have to “study war”.

Our founding father were willing to fight, in order that their successors could pursue peaceful interests.

As we near the anniversary of the attacks of 9 11 we would all do well to remember that “The tree of Liberty is watered with the blood of patriots”.

We have not sought the fight at hand, but now that the battle is joined, we can settle for nothing less than victory. To do otherwise is unworthy of our heritage as Americans.

But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.”
John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams, July 17, 1775

My friend’s we live in perilous times for this tenuous thing we call freedom! John Adams warning is especially important in our times.

Our current leaders in the White House and Congress don’t care about the Constitution. They are working overtime to steal our freedom away.

The current health care plan, cap and trade legislation, as well as other actions by the current regime, pose grave threats to our freedom and America as we know it.

Obama Care will make every American “beholdin” to the government. Cap and Trade will have the government intruding into areas they have never been be for.

We are already under the gun from the I.R.S. . If we’re not care full Obama Care as well as Cap and Trade will enslave us all.

Go to the Library of Congress and become informed about the provisions of the Health care package, as well as cap and trade. I think you will agree that our government is in danger of turning it’s back on freedom.

If this happens we may never regain that most precious of gifts to man from God.

Silent No Longer

Filed under: Uncategorized — Gene @ 1:49 am

This is my second post on Political Quick Reads. I’m a working class man, the son of a working man. I remember as a boy growing up in the sixties, and I remember ninteen sixty eight quite well. This was a summer of rebelllion.

Unfortunately it was mostly anti American, blame America first stuff. I seem to remember at the time and afterward the talking heads referred to it as the summer of discontent.

Well just as those on the left had their watershed moment in 1968 when they profoundly altered, and changed the directoin of this nation. The repercussions of which are being felt to this present time.

We have had our summer of discontent. In the late sixties early seventies someone coined the phrase “Silent Majority. and linked it with what was called the “Vocal minority”. Well the silent majority is being heard and this is our chance to profoundly change the direction of this nation.

The vocal minority had nothing to do with race, but rather, ideology. The Silent Majority represented those folks who believed in the ideal of America, as well as ,the traditions of this country.

The vocal minority on the other hand blamed the ills of the world on America and eschewed traditional American Ideals.

I have been a member of the Silent Majority for too long. But things have become so serious that I can remain silent no longer. I have heard that the latest polls show conservatives outnumber liberals two to one. It’s time for us to “seize” the day, and write, publish, and organize as much as we can to help bring this country back to its foundational, and, Constitutional principles.

The silent majority cannot afford to be silent any longer

There’s a new blog in town

Filed under: Uncategorized — Gene @ 11:42 pm

That’s right there is a new blog in town. As you can see from my profile photo I’m somebody who doesn’t want the government trampling my rights and freedoms. Because of this point of view me,and people like me, who dare to raise our voices and speak truth to power are called angry mobs,Nazi’s, violent -not yet anyway- and many other interesting adjectives.

The current crowd in Washington -and by crowd I mean primarily the left- have become so arrogant that they believe we exist to serve them. Well I’ve got news for ya Pelosi , Reid, and Obama, that ain’t the way it is . YOU PEOPLE WORK FOR US. Furthermore next election We The People are going to drive that point home and fire your a—es.

Well now you know where I stand. I stand for truth, justice, and the American way. In this day and age that makes me an extremist. My God they would come unglued and go into convulsions if John Wayne were to suddenly come back.

Come to think of it we could use a new John Wayne or Ronald Reagan about now.

Yup there’s a new blog in town, and before long the American people are going to show these lugnuts that there is a new sheriff in town
